The Principal's Desk

Principal - José Colón

Dear Students, Staff, Parents and Community Partners,

Welcome to the 2018-19 School Year!  I am excited to continue to lead our amazing school community as we provide every student with a high quality, challenging and fun learning experience. High expectations and standards in regard to academic performance, behavior and personal development are hallmarks of an education at SMSA. Our faculty, staff and community partners remain committed to supporting the personal growth and development of every student to meet those high expectations and standards.

We ask all of our students to commit to maximizing their academic potential, to demonstrate resilience when faced with challenges and to focus on continuous improvement as students and members of our community. This has been and will continue to be the foundation of what makes SMSA great.  At SMSA, our daily work is guided by Four Core Beliefs;

DEDICATION- Each community member will assume responsibility for making SMSA the best it can be.

RESPONSIBILITY- Each community member will be accountable for the choices he or she makes.

DISCIPLINE- Each community member will strive to reach his or her full potential – academically, professionally, personally and socially.

RESPECT- Each community member will recognize and value the individual differences and uniqueness of all members of the community; and also, model self-respect. Respect is treating others the way you want to be treated.

As we begin this, our twenty-first year as a school, I would like to invite all members of the SMSA community to make use of these core beliefs to continue to build our great tradition of excellence. I remain personally committed to leading and setting the conditions that will foster continuous growth and success for all members of our school community.

I thank you for allowing me the opportunity and honor to serve as your principal. I wish everyone a wonderful school year!

Sincerely,

José Colón
